You spoke, we listened. Here is how we are moving forward to best serve students:
We’d like to thank every student that completed our Spring 21 revised hours dining survey. We have reviewed the results from over 800 student responses and will be making the following adjustments:
Effective Friday, Feb. 26,Subway will reopen on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Effective Saturday, Feb. 27, through Saturday, March 27, Starbucks at SAC East will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to support campus visits.
Effective Monday, March 1, Einstein Bros. Bagels will be open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. for GrubHub orders only. U of L Dining will cover the transaction cost associated with every Grubhub order.
Effective Saturday, April 3 (Is this date right?),Starbucks at Ekstrom will return to its regular Saturday operating hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Please keep an eye out for a new survey regarding student services and student needs. Dining, Institutional Research and the Student Government Association are currently working together to curate this survey, which we hope will make it easier for your voice to be heard on issues that matter the most to you. We hope to use this information to create more accessible student services and fulfill the needs of every member of our campus community.
To provide clarity, we have included some background information on why and how the initial adjustments to the Hours of Operation were made.
Why were changes initially made to the hours of operations?
Due to the unfortunate circumstances of COVID-19, UofL Dining suffered financially, as we are down over 2,400 meal plans from Fall 2020 and 5,200 meal plans from Spring 2020. These challenges along with the lack of campus visitors, catered events and other sources of revenue have limited the services we were able to provide before the financial impact of COVID-19.
How were these decisions about Campus Dining hours made?
We utilized transaction data and traffic patterns from previous semesters and three full weeks of the current semester to guarantee we are addressing the needs of the student body. The Dining Hours of Operations Committee considered a variety of possible changes so that students would have a variety of food options, including for those with dietary restrictions, and time ranges for non-traditional schedules.
Your feedback has inspired the adjustments listed above and other upcoming solutions from UofL Dining to best serve our community. The student dining experience remains at the forefront of all of our initiatives. Through our University partnerships, we will continue to support the needs of our students and actively drive innovative solutions and programs. It is the voices and feedback from our students that help us create an exemplary dining experience for our UofL community.
